### 4. Printed Designs: It’s Not Just About "Peeling"

When it comes to testing printed designs, many factories assume that passing the tape test (i.e., the design doesn’t peel off) is sufficient. But the reality is far more comprehensive.

- Adhesion: This is the baseline. The tape test must be passed without issue.

- Color Fastness/Migration: It’s not enough for the design to remain intact; the colors must not bleed or fade. This was a severe case of color migration.

- Leaching of Harmful Substances (Most Critical!): This requires collecting the water used during testing and sending it to a third-party laboratory for analysis. Key substances tested include heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium) and specific plasticizers. To prevent this, our factory now exclusively uses food-grade inks that come with MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and comply with the EU EN71-3 standard.

### 5. Coatings: They Must Also "Prove Their Innocence"

Absolutely! Coatings and inks are fundamentally the same—they are both chemical products. We once had a blue paint that passed adhesion and appearance checks after dishwasher testing. However, water testing revealed excessive chromium levels.
