What is the M2 Test Solution Method for Stainless Steel Insulated Cups? - Practical Operation Guide
Every cup has a story, and life has its warmth. Hello everyone, and welcome to "Dong Dong's Cup Talk" In previous discussions, I’ve mentioned simple methods to test whether your stainless steel cup is made of 304 stainless steel, including the use of testing solutions. However, I haven’t yet provided a detailed explanation. Recently, I’ve received messages from followers asking about the reagent testing process. Today, I’ll dive deeper into this topic. Given the amount of information, I’ll break it down into several parts for clarity.
II. Testing Operation Guide
Steps:
1. Clean the stainless steel surface (use sandpaper to remove any coating).
2. Apply 1-2 drops of the M2 test solution.
3. Connect the positive and negative terminals of a 9V battery (positive terminal to the metal, negative terminal to the test solution droplet).
4. Observe the color change within 10 seconds:
- 304 Stainless Steel → Dark reddish-brown
- 201 Stainless Steel → Bright red (low nickel content)
- 316 Stainless Steel → Brownish-red (interference from molybdenum)
- 430 Stainless Steel → No color change / light yellow (nickel-free)
Note: Rinse the surface immediately with clean water after the reaction!
